Portugal Day 2013

PECO Multicultural Series Presents: 
The Philadelphia Portuguese Heritge Festival. 

PECO and The Philadelphia Portuguese Heritage Commission in collaboration with The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC), is proud to bring you Portugal Day 2013 this year on the Great Plaza, the heart of Penn's Landing, Philadelphia’s premier riverfront entertainment destination. 

Taking place on the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, Columbus Boulevard and Chestnut Street on Sunday June 16, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. is the Portuguese Heritage Festival.

The festivities will begin on Sunday June 16th, with a flag ceremony and playing of the national anthems of Portugal and the USA, followed by a blessing of the fleet aboard the Tall Ship Gazela. The Tall Ship Gazela is originally a Portuguese ship that is now the official tall ship of the city of Philadelphia and berthed at Penn’s Landing.

A full day of stage entertainment will begin promptly at 1p.m. All attendees to the festival will have the opportunity to enjoy Portuguese cuisine. everything from BBQ sardines, chicken, pork, to the famous BBQ Chourico. You will have the opportunity to sample Portuguese cheeses and wine, as well as the great tasting Portuguese beer. Activities for the kids will feature a clown, face painting and moon bounce.

The entertainment will feature folk dancing and live music. We will have a line-up of 6 great artists that will be infusing pop, folk, rock and Portuguese soul all on one stage. This year, four of the musical talents are all International Portuguese Music Award nominees, and two of them award recipients!
